We are delighted to announce that experienced Senior Editor, Helen Carr from O'Brien Press, and Literary Scout and publishing guru, Vanessa O'Loughlin will be joining Sarah Webb for our GET PUBLISHED DAY: Everything You Ever Wanted to Know About Children's Publishing But Were Too Afraid to Ask.
Content: the children's book market in 2018/2019, what publishers and agents are currently looking for, how to write a brilliant submission letter, editing and rewriting your work, recommended Irish and UK publishers and agents and what they love to read/publish, royalty payments and how they work and much more!
Come with questions and leave with answers (and a cracking submission letter). Vanessa will also cover the area of successful self-publishing.

At Story Crew we believe that creative children are happy children. Writing, drawing and creating all help to build a child’s confidence and self-esteem. Being creative gives children a voice, it allows them to be themselves and the research backs us up.* But above all, it’s fun!

At Story Crew we provide writing clubs, arts and craft classes and workshops for creative children in the seaside town of Dún Laoghaire and in exciting venues around Dublin. Hosted by award-winning writers, artists and craftspeople, our classes are designed to be innovative, engaging and, above all, fun!
Story Crew School Visits

You can also arrange a school visit though Poetry Ireland's Writers in Schools scheme which part-funds visits by writers and storytellers to primary and post-primary schools in the Republic of Ireland and Northern Ireland.

If you’re interested in writing for children, we offer a range of classes, talks and workshops for you too.
*Arts Council of Ireland Survey 2016 (Arts and Cultural Participation among Children and Young People) showed that arts participation boosts children’s confidence, socio-economic well-being and academic skills.

Love drawing, cartooning and animation? We will work on individual and group projects in this fun, hands-on class. (max 8)

Every Wednesday from 12th September 4.30pm to 5.30pm
Age 11+ E100 per term Royal St George Yacht Club, Dún Laoghaire
For young writers who would like to stretch their creativity. We will work on lots of different genres and forms and enter writing competitions. Suitable for age 11+ (6th class) and teenagers who love to write. (max 12)
Story Crew Second Thursday Writing Club (for All Abilities)
Every Second Thursday from 13th September 3.30pm to 4.30pm

Emphasis on fun, with writing games and genre exploration - mystery stories, spooky poems and lots more! (max 10)

For ages 9 - 12. Does your child love writing stories and poems? Are they working on their own book? Would they like to learn more about crafting their work and meet and share ideas with other keen young writers? Then the Second Thursday Writing Club is for you. We meet every second Thursday and cover all kinds of fun writing topics, from creating realistic characters to writing cracking mystery stories. Suitable for ALL children who love reading and writing.
Sarah Webb is a writer and creative writing teacher and runs regular writing clubs for children in Dún Laoghaire with Story Crew.

Story Crew is led by our Story Captain, Sarah Webb, an award-winning children’s books champion and writer. Sarah has been teaching creative writing for more than twenty years and loves encouraging and helping children and adults to craft their own stories.
