| Happy New Year! I hope this finds you all well.
Christmas
My family and I spent
Christmas in Tamworth, near Birmingham. My
partners mum and dad live here and we had a
lovely relaxing time. Thanks to Bob and Janet for
doing all the work! It even snowed a little -
what more could you ask for?
Christmas Presents

Amy-Rose received the best
presents of course - well she is only tiny after
all and it was her very first Christmas! A little
pink house that makes noises, a huge edition of
one of my favourite childrens books,
The Very Hungry Caterpillar, complete
with cuddly green caterpillar, a brick truck and
lots of adorable clothes. I was well pleased with
a lovely black jumper and lots and lots of book
tokens (Ive finally persuaded my friends
and family - so Im looking forward to
indulging myself over the next few months.
Irish Girls
Christmas Dinner
In December we held the
second Irish Girls Christmas Dinner in one
of the yacht clubs in Dun Laoghaire. It was very
well attended and everyone had a great night. The
Irish Girls is a network of Irish women writers
who meet regularly for dinners, lunches and other
events. We have an event coming up on
Valentines Day, but more about that in a
moment.
The New Year
Amy-Rose

My little daughter is now
nearly ten months old. Shes crawling really
well now and has just started to take steps while
holding onto her brick truck. Shes
currently very interested in everything,
especially the remote control for the DVD (which
lights up when you press it) and the kitchen
tiles for some reason. This is one of my
favourite pictures of her - and in case
youre wondering, yes, its black and
white.
Recent Reads
A Perfect Life by
Kate Thompson
I finished this over the
Christmas break and it was the perfect escapist
read. Its very glam and stylish - one of
the main characters, called Calypso OKelly
no less, is a casting director and leads a very
pampered life. If youre looking for a good
holiday read this book is a good choice.
A Special
Relationship by Douglas Kennedy
A little disappointing after
The Pursuit of Happiness, which I
loved, but a good read all the same. Sally
Goodchilds life is turned upside down when
she meets the dashing journalist, Tony Hobbs and
gets pregnant. A bit slow in the middle, but
picks up thankfully. Cracking ending!
Im currently reading
Eats, Shoots and Leaves, fascinating
for anyone interested in the English language,
and also Middlesex, brilliant but
very long, so its going to take me a while!
